Morgan + Evan's Bowing Oaks Plantation Wedding

Morgan and Evan celebrated their October wedding day at one of our go-to Jacksonville venues, Bowing Oaks Plantation. We love the space for the same reasons it captured M+E’s attention — couples can host outdoor ceremonies and indoor receptions, plus there is plenty of beautiful Spanish moss hanging from oak trees to boot! The venue was also a welcome spot for Morgan and Evan to add plenty of nods to their relationship and story.

The couple met while attending the University of Florida (at the end of their freshmen years, to be specific), and they have been together ever since. On their wedding day, they were so excited to continue their story together. While the ladies spent their mornings in hair and makeup, the gents jumped into a pool competition in their getting ready space. It was an ideal way to spend a celebratory morning.

Before Morgan and Evan’s guests witnessed their vow exchange during their outdoor wedding ceremony, M+E shared a first look together. They were thrilled to see each other, and their joy was captured perfectly in their photos by Jen of J. Mosely Photography! Like we mentioned, one of the top reasons Morgan and Evan chose to get married at Bowing Oaks Plantation was because they could host their ceremony outside. And they did! We also have to highlight how beautifully the Florida sunshine looked throughout their first look and ceremony. The natural light was gorgeous!

After they were officially married, Morgan and Evan continued to capture photos throughout the property together and with their wedding party. Then it was time for Morgan, Evan, and their guests to step inside the ballroom for the reception — and we have to highlight the details.

Morgan and Evan wanted to honor their University of Florida roots, so we wove their alma mater into their overall design, particularly through their school’s colors. While UF’s colors tend to lean toward bright and bold, Morgan and Evan wanted to take a softer approach, so their palette was filled with the prettiest shades of peach and dusty blue, especially in their flowers by Malia Floral Design. They also carried the UF touches to their cake by Crème de la Cocoa, where bride and groom alligators were perched on top!

The couple said one of the highlights of their wedding day was being able to gather together with their closest friends and family, some of whom they hadn’t seen in years. At the heart of a wedding day, that’s what it’s all about — hugging, catching up, and dancing with those you love.

It was an honor for our team to plan your day, Morgan and Evan! Congratulations!
